Ear Canal Stenosis

EAC (External Auditory Canal) Stenosis is a milder form of atresia. Rather than the canal being blind or absent, it is simply narrower than normal. However, narrow (stenosed) canals can be associated with the same ossicular malformations as full-blown atresia and can also be associated with significant conductive hearing losses. All treatment options available for atresia (including atresia repair, BAHA implantation, and Vibrant Soundbridge / VORP implantation, and non-surgical options such as hearing aids) are also available for individuals with External Auditory Canal Stenosis.
