What if I live a long way from your clinic?

There are many options for traveling when it comes to getting to the California Ear Institute Palo Alto clinic. These options include the three airports that are in the Bay Area, the San Francisco Airport, the Oakland Airport, and the San Jose Airport. Once you are at the airport, there are many ways to get from the airport to our clinic, including limo town-cars, taxi cabs, and shuttles.

Conveniently located, The California Ear Institute is conveniently located because all Bay Area airports are conveniently located. The San Francisco Airport, the Oakland Airport, and the San Jose Airport are all within twenty to thirty minute cab ride to the office (forty minutes by shuttle or during rush hour traffic).

Where is Palo Alto?

Located 35 miles south of San Francisco and 14 miles north of San Jose, California.  Palo Alto has become known as the birthplace of Silicon Valley and is still recognized worldwide as a leader in technological development.  With just over 64,000 residents, Palo Alto is a nice blend of business and residential areas, and a vibrant downtown area with plenty of excellent restaurants and shops.  Nearly 1/3 of the 26 square miles of Palo Alto is open space, providing numerous opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. If you fly into SFO, the Rental Car Center can be accessed by the AirTrain Blue Line that connects all the terminals, terminal parking garages and the SFO BART station.  Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Fox, Hertz, National and Thrifty car rental counters are located on the 4th floor of the SFO Rental Car Center.  Off-site Payless Rental Car can be accessed via free shuttle service from the SFO Rental Car Center

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART)

Kid Friendly Activities in Palo Alto

Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo (2.7mi/4.3km)

Kids can come to explore, discover, create and play in the museum’s hands-on science exhibits complete with more than 50 species of animals. Though free, there is a suggested $5 donation. The museum’s play area and zoo may not rival that of the large zoos in the area, but for great way to entertain small kids close to Palo Alto, this comes highly recommended.

The city of Palo Alto has more than 4,500 acres of park land to explore and enjoy. Nearly thirty neighborhood parks offer an assortment of recreational activities including children’s playgrounds, walking trails and picnic areas. Visit the City of Palo Alto website for more information.

A scenic 4 mile loop on paved trails offers great views of Stanford University and San Francisco Bay. One will find both the avid runner and the family out enjoying a leisurely walk on the property. Hours are adjusted to match sunrise and sunset. The main entrance is located at Junipero Serra Blvd and Stanford Ave. Parking is available on both sides of Stanford Avenue.

*Baylands Nature Preserve (2.9mi/4.7km)

The Baylands Nature Preserve is one of the largest undisturbed marshlands remaining in the San Francisco Bay Area. Many have considered it one of the top areas for bird watching on the west coast. Fifteen miles of flat trails provide a great opportunity for walkers, runners, or cyclist to take in the area’s marshes and wildlife.
